Florida beaches and coastal waters are entirely free of red tide, according to the latest data released by state environmental officials.
Red Tide Update
Water monitoring teams across the state found zero traces of Karenia brevis, the microscopic organism responsible for red tide blooms, in any samples collected over the past week.
The absence of the toxic algae means local marine life and beachgoers are currently seeing no negative impacts. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) reported that its Fish Kill Hotline received no reports of dead fish linked to red tide over the last seven days.
Wildlife officials are actively using satellite imagery provided by the University of South Florida (USF) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to monitor both nearshore and offshore conditions.
