Florida Army Ranger Honored

A West Palm Beach veteran, Douglas Philippone, is receiving one of the nation’s highest military honors. He is being inducted into the U.S. Army Ranger Hall of Fame. To mark the achievement, Florida Senator Ashley Moody announced that she is entering his history of service into the official Congressional Record as a gesture of gratitude.

Service and Achievements

Philippone’s career in the Army spanned 18 years, beginning in 1991 and running through 2008. During the height of conflicts in the Middle East and South Asia, he completed six total deployments across Afghanistan, Iraq, and Pakistan between 2003 and 2007. He commanded multiple outstations for the Joint Special Operations Command and managed the foreign fighter campaign along the Syrian border in 2005.

His actions in the field earned him three Bronze Stars, including two with valor awards, alongside a Joint Service Commendation Medal with valor and numerous other military commendations. Senator Moody highlighted his service, saying, “Congratulations to Douglas Philippone for being inducted to the Army Ranger Hall of Fame! Over the course of a distinguished military career, Doug served with extraordinary valor, leading critical operations in support of the global war on terror and helping protect our nation during some of its most challenging moments.”

Post-Military Service

After retiring from active military duty in 2008, Philippone shifted his focus toward supporting active service members and veterans. He currently works to help deliver advanced capabilities to warfighters serving on the front lines and volunteers his time assisting wounded Rangers, military families, and veterans navigating the transition back into civilian life.
