Dramatic body cam footage shows first responders from Fairfax County, Virginia, making the daring decision to rush into a pond and form a human chain to pull a driver from a sinking car.
Fairfax County Fire and Rescue, in a social media post, said the driver received treatment for minor injuries after the rescue.
The footage shows rescuers linking arms and wading into the water to reach the driver. One rescuer is heard saying, “It’s going down, it’s going down. He’s gotta get out.”
After pulling the driver from the car, more officers entered the water to help bring everyone back to dry land.
The department said the rescue reflects teamwork and training. “This rescue is a testament to the teamwork training and dedication our Fairfax County first responders bring every day,” Fairfax County Fire and Rescue said on its post.
