Firmus, an AI infrastructure firm, has raised $2 billion in its latest funding round, bringing its post-money valuation to above $10.5 billion. This investment will allow the company to accelerate the build-out of AI factories in Australia and the Asia Pacific region.
Investment Details
The latest funding round saw participation from Nvidia and tech investor Coatue Management, along with backing from Blackstone’s funds and Jane Street. Firmus will use the proceeds to speed up the next phase of Project Southgate, its initiative to develop AI training and inference infrastructure in Australia.
According to Oliver Curtis, Co-CEO of Firmus, this investment enables the company to move forward on multiple fronts, scaling across Australia while expanding into the wider Asia-Pacific region. Firmus builds infrastructure based on Nvidia’s DSX AI Factory Reference Architecture and has struck a deal with Nvidia to buy its infrastructure and sell Nvidia-powered cloud services.
