Firefighters in Lyon County stopped the forward progress of a small brush fire on Tuesday night in the Fremont Street area, west of Lily Lane in Fernley.
The fire, which started just before 8:30 p.m., grew to about a 10th of an acre before being contained. A caller reporting the fire told dispatchers that the blaze was visible from Main Street and was burning across railroad tracks.
Fortunately, there were no injuries and no buildings were damaged.
