FIFA President Gianni Infantino has been making headlines for attending multiple World Cup games daily, despite the long distances between host cities.
Traveling by Private Jet
Infantino’s goal is to attend as many matches as possible, usually two games a day, according to FIFA sources. He is traveling via a private jet provided by Qatar Airways as part of a sponsorship deal.
On opening day, Infantino was in Mexico City for Mexico vs. South Africa, and later in Guadalajara for South Korea vs. Czechia. The next day, he attended the United States’ opener vs. Paraguay in Los Angeles. He also managed to attend matches in San Francisco and Vancouver on the same day.
Environmental groups have raised concerns about the air mileage accumulated by Infantino’s travels. FIFA’s sustainability strategy aims to raise awareness of climate change and promote responsible consumption.
