Fiesta San Antonio members select 2027 poster design at local art showcase

The Fiesta San Antonio Commission took a key step toward next year’s festival on Friday evening, hosting a “5 to 1” Official Poster Selection Event at the San Antonio Garden Center. Five local artists presented original poster concepts, each explaining the inspiration behind their work and how it reflects the theme “Celebrate Fiesta Familia and Friends.”

Members cast votes for their favorite design

Dues‑paying members of the commission who attended the event were eligible to vote. The design receiving the most votes will become the official Fiesta 2027 poster, though the winning artwork will remain under wraps until its public unveiling on Jan. 28, 2027, at the University of the Incarnate Word Skyroom during the Fiesta Poster Unveiling and Miss Fiesta Selection Event.

Fiesta leadership emphasizes community involvement

Commission President Jim Mery said the event is intended to give members a direct role in choosing an important symbol of the upcoming celebration. “Our members are the heart of Fiesta,” Mery explained. “Allowing them to select the poster reinforces the family‑focused spirit that defines our festival.” Fiesta 2027 is scheduled for April 15‑25.

Historical roots and economic impact

Fiesta San Antonio traces its origins to 1891, when the city held a parade honoring the heroes of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto. Over more than a century, the celebration has grown into a citywide festival featuring more than 100 official events organized by nonprofit Fiesta member organizations.

According to the commission, the annual celebration generates an economic impact of more than $340 million. The influx of visitors also helps participating nonprofits raise money for scholarships, cultural programs, military organizations, children’s programs, animal‑welfare efforts and other community causes.

What’s next for Fiesta 2027

After the poster is unveiled in January, the commission will continue planning a wide array of events, including parades, concerts, culinary showcases and family activities. The organization encourages residents to stay engaged by attending commission meetings, volunteering with member nonprofits, and supporting local businesses that benefit from the festival’s tourism boost.
