FBI Dallas hosts career expo in Grapevine as violent crime falls 9.4%

North Texas residents have a new opportunity to serve their community and protect the American people. The FBI Dallas field office will host a career expo on September 21 in Grapevine, inviting applicants for a range of positions including special agents, forensic accountants, intelligence analysts, linguists, IT specialists and investigative analysts.

Why the hiring push matters

“The more folks that we’re able to get into those spots to investigate, we can get them off the streets faster,” said Holly Kelley, Assistant Special Agent in Charge of FBI Dallas. The agency points to a recent 9.4% decline in violent crime across North Texas since 2024 as evidence that its efforts are bearing fruit, but stresses that continued staffing is essential to sustain and deepen those gains.

Roles being filled

Applicants will hear directly from current FBI employees about the duties and expectations of each role. Special agents will handle criminal investigations ranging from offenses against children to white‑collar fraud, while forensic accountants will trace financial trails tied to illicit activity. Intelligence analysts and linguists will support the bureau’s fight against fentanyl trafficking and cartel operations, and IT specialists will bolster cyber‑security, counter‑intelligence and counter‑terrorism initiatives.

Local impact and federal support

The hiring drive aligns with a broader federal effort in the DFW metroplex. U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Ryan Raybould recently announced a record‑high number of more than 100 Assistant U.S. Attorneys, adding 40 new attorneys in just ten months. That surge helps DFW on track to become the nation’s third‑largest metropolitan area, reinforcing the need for a robust law‑enforcement presence.

“We’re looking for those who are wanting to uphold the oath to protect the American people,” Kelley added, emphasizing the patriotic duty inherent in federal service. The FBI stresses that it welcomes candidates from all backgrounds and experience levels, reflecting the diversity of the communities they will serve.

How to apply

Interested North Texans must submit the online registration form by 5 p.m. on September 16, 2026. The expo will provide on‑site information about the application process, required qualifications and the benefits of a career with the FBI.

By expanding its workforce, the FBI Dallas field office aims to continue the downward trend in violent crime, protect families from the scourge of fentanyl and cartel violence, and safeguard the region against emerging cyber threats. The career expo offers a concrete way for local citizens to answer the call to service and help keep North Texas safe for future generations.
