Fayetteville is set to honor its service members with the second annual Veterans Day Parade on Saturday, November 7. The event will begin at 11 a.m. at the corner of East Avenue and Dickson Street, travel down West Avenue, and conclude on Spring Street.
Veterans and community leaders lead the celebration
Veteran and parade organizer Jay Stout, a Fayetteville native who served 34 years in the Army and Army National Guard, emphasized the parade’s importance for both veterans and the broader community. “This is my hometown,” Stout said. “I feel it’s important to allow the community to show their respect and support for our veterans.”
Stout also announced a new “hometown heroes” float, a first for the parade, inviting residents to ride and participate. “We want to say thank you, Northwest Arkansas, for supporting us,” he added.
More than 65 entries, including 35 veteran organizations
Organizers expect more than 65 entries this year, with 35 representing veteran and veteran‑related groups. The expanded lineup reflects growing community involvement and a renewed commitment to honoring those who served.
Community fair follows the parade
After the march, a veterans community fair will be held at the Upper Ramble from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The fair offers activities for families, opportunities to meet local veterans, and a chance for children to learn about service and sacrifice.
Stout expressed his excitement about the event’s impact on younger generations. “I know it’s a lot of work, but it’s a rush to have this done and to see all the smiling faces, especially the kids,” he said.
How to get involved
Residents who wish to ride on the float or volunteer at the fair can contact the organizers via email at [email protected]. The parade and fair are open to the public, and organizers encourage families to attend and show their support for local veterans.
The Fayetteville Veterans Day Parade continues to grow as a beloved tradition, strengthening community bonds and honoring the sacrifices of those who have served our nation.
