Far Eastside Residents Can Apply for City‑Certified Quality‑of‑Life Grants up to $10,000

Residents, local businesses and nonprofit groups on Indianapolis’ Far Eastside now have a concrete way to fund projects that improve daily life in the neighborhood. The Early Action Fund Mini Grants, authorized by the city’s recently certified Quality of Life Plan, are accepting applications through September 30.

What the grants cover

Each grant can range from $500 to $10,000, but every project must align with one of the five focus areas outlined in the plan: housing stability, public safety, economic development, health and wellness, and community engagement. The intent is to empower neighbors to address real‑world needs within the defined Far Eastside boundaries—46th Street, Carroll Road, Washington Street and Arlington Avenue.

How to apply

Applications are submitted online via the Far Eastside Community Council’s website. Applicants must provide a brief description of the project, a budget outlining how the funds will be used, and evidence of how the initiative will benefit the community within the grant’s geographic limits. The council will review proposals and award funds based on impact, feasibility and alignment with the plan’s priorities.

Why this matters

By tying grant funding directly to a community‑crafted plan, the city is reinforcing the principle that local families and faith‑based groups are the backbone of neighborhood revitalization. The program reflects a commitment to parental‑rights and family stability, ensuring that improvements—whether a new playground, a safety‑lighting upgrade, or a job‑training workshop—serve the people who call the Far Eastside home.

Mayor [Name] praised the initiative, noting that “when residents take the lead on projects that matter to them, we see stronger families, safer streets, and a brighter future for our children.” The council’s outreach includes informational webinars and one‑on‑one assistance for first‑time applicants, underscoring the administration’s dedication to transparent, community‑driven development.
