A former senior adviser to former New York City Mayor Eric Adams was arrested Wednesday morning as part of a corruption investigation, according to law enforcement sources. Frank Carone, known for his high-powered government influence and support of Adams, was taken into custody following a search of his home by federal law enforcement officers.
Investigation Details
The investigation into Carone allegedly involves a bribery scheme, sources said. The probe is part of a long-running criminal investigation into bribery and conduct that occurred years ago. NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch confirmed one of the investigations in a social media post, stating that the Internal Affairs Bureau and the FBI executed search warrants as part of a criminal investigation.
Adams served as mayor from 2022 to 2025. His spokesperson, Todd Shapiro, released a statement saying that Carone has dedicated his life to public service and helping individuals, businesses, and charitable organizations throughout New York. Shapiro added that this is an ongoing legal matter and his prayers are with Carone’s family.
