The Emerald Awards, a Salute to Black Excellence in Seminole County, aim to honor inspiring Black leaders, residents and changemakers, with nominations now open through Aug. 15, 2026.
Nomination Process
J. Lajuana Miller, the executive producer of the Emerald Awards, explained the nomination process and encouraged community participation. The Group Awards include Church of the Year and Civic Organization of the Year. Individual Awards include but are not limited to Artist of the Year, Author of the Year, Community Advocate of the Year and Youth Achiever of the Year.
The ceremony is scheduled for Nov. 7, 2026, with voting open Sept. 15-30, 2026.
