A 50-year-old time capsule, sealed in July 1976, was opened Wednesday at the Veterans Memorial Community Center in Elkhart. Community members gathered to witness the unsealing, celebrating a moment of local history.
The items from the capsule will be displayed Saturday at the Elkhart City Festival. After the festival, people can take home items that are either designated for them or have their name on them.
