Highland County officials confirmed that Albert Keim, 85, of Hillsboro, lost his life after a tragic crash involving his horse‑drawn carriage on State Route 138. The accident occurred at approximately 6:45 p.m. on Monday near Worley Mill Road in Paint Township.
Collision details
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Keim was traveling southwest on SR 138 when a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 75‑year‑old man, struck the carriage from behind. The impact caused serious injuries to Keim, who was airlifted by a medical helicopter to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He later died from his injuries.

The Silverado driver sustained only minor injuries. Paint Creek EMS transported him to Highland District Hospital, where he was treated and released.
