Breezy Cade, an El Paso resident, has defied the odds of living with polio, a disease he was diagnosed with at the age of five. Despite the challenges, Cade has accomplished more than most people, becoming a musician, pilot, father, and author.
A Life of Resilience
Cade’s positive attitude and ‘can do’ approach to life have inspired many. He spent a lot of time in a hospital for polio victims and saw firsthand the impact of the disease on others. This experience led him to write a book, ‘Polio: my life with the disease,’ to raise awareness and provide hope to those affected.
Cade’s story is one of perseverance and determination. He lost his ability to walk from one day to the next and underwent numerous treatments, including leg braces, body casts, back braces, crutches, and wheelchairs. Despite these challenges, he continued to pursue his passions, playing music and flying helicopters and planes.
Today, Cade spends time with his family, works out, and tackles projects around the house. When asked about his message to others who are going through a diagnosis or challenging time, he said, ‘Don’t ever sink into self-pity and start worrying about your own personal life.’
