El Paso County is dealing with a muddy gravel road situation for the second time in two years. The road in question is Cooper Grove, located at the intersection of Black Forest Road and just south of the Douglas County line.
Neighbors contacted KRDO 13’s The Road Warrior about the issue, stating that the problem began when the county sprayed what they believed to be a chemical on the road without explanation. However, a county representative clarified that it was water, not a chemical, that crews sprayed while applying new gravel on the road last fall.
Concerns and Response
Since the application, neighbors have reported that at least three vehicles have slid off the road, become stuck, and had to be towed during wet weather. The county has begun evaluating the road’s condition to determine a possible solution. Paving the road with asphalt is not considered feasible due to the road’s low traffic volume.
