East Greenbush police launch urgent search for missing diabetic husband

East Greenbush, N.Y. – The East Greenbush Police Department has activated an intensive search operation for 35‑year‑old Dominick Bianchi, who was last seen Tuesday morning leaving his home without his phone, wallet or vehicle.

Bianchi, a newly‑wed husband, lives with Type 1 diabetes and relies on a continuous glucose monitor that pairs with his phone. His wife, Julianna Zyra, told WTEN that she does not know whether he has any insulin on his person and expressed concern that he may be struggling mentally, saying he “is not in the right headspace.” She made an emotional plea on camera, urging him to return home: “If you’re seeing this, please, come home.”

Search efforts and resources

Police have deployed drones and K‑9 units to sweep the area surrounding Bianchi’s residence in East Greenbush, a town just outside Albany. The effort includes assistance from the New York State Police and other regional agencies, according to Assistant Chief James Condo.

Residents have been asked to check their properties, vehicles, trail cameras and any home surveillance footage that might have captured Bianchi’s movements. Authorities stress the importance of community cooperation in locating a man who may need immediate medical attention.

Physical description

Bianchi is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall, with blue‑green eyes, brown hair and a beard. At the time of his disappearance he was wearing black sweatpants, a black long‑sleeve shirt and possibly a baseball hat.

Anyone who sees Bianchi or has information about his whereabouts is urged to contact the East Greenbush Police Department at 518‑479‑2525. The department emphasized that timely tips could be critical for his safety, especially given his diabetic condition.

Community response

Neighbors and local volunteers have begun organizing informal patrols and sharing the missing‑person notice on social media platforms. The town’s close‑knit community, rooted in family values and faith, has rallied around the Zyra family, offering prayers and practical assistance.

Local churches have posted the appeal on bulletin boards and encouraged congregants to keep an eye out while praying for Bianchi’s safe return. The situation underscores the importance of community vigilance and the role of local law enforcement in protecting vulnerable residents.

What to do if you have information

If you have any details—no matter how small—please call the East Greenbush Police Department. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the department’s online portal. Authorities remind the public that even a brief sighting could make a difference for a diabetic individual who may be at risk of a medical emergency.
