A collision between an electric bicycle and a SUV occurred near Orangethorpe and Basque avenues in Fullerton, according to the Fullerton Police Department. The crash was reported at around 9:09 p.m.
When officers responded to the scene, they found the e-bike, possibly an off-road type, had struck the large vehicle. The bicycle rider was taken to a hospital in serious condition, while the driver and passenger inside the SUV were treated for minor injuries at a medical facility.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. This incident is one of several recent high-profile cases involving e-bikes in Orange County.
