Riverside County has seen a significant surge in e-bike accidents, with a roughly 320% increase over the past three years. According to the Riverside University Health System, there were 224 e-bike accidents reported in 2023, 494 in 2024, and 958 in 2025.
E-Bike Safety Concerns
Officials are urging parents and guardians to ensure children utilize protective equipment and take safety courses before riding to prevent mishaps. The age group most prone to accidents was identified as those 10 to 24 years old. In Riverside County, the number of emergency visits among 10- to 14-year-olds more than doubled, rising from 155 in 2024 to 339 in 2025, while visits among 15- to 24-year-olds increased from 122 to 248.
Dr. Bradly Jacoby, Chief of Pediatrics at Kaiser Permanente Riverside County, stated, “We’re hearing about concussions, of course, but also more serious head injuries potentially, especially if not wearing a helmet. These injuries can be extremely serious.”
