The City of Durango is set to host its 4th Annual City Scavenger Hunt from Monday, June 1, at 8 a.m. to Friday, June 5, at 5 p.m. This family-friendly event encourages residents to explore their community while having fun and potentially winning exciting prizes.
Event Details
Participants will search for five brightly painted rocks hidden at various points of interest around Durango. Clues for each location will be shared daily at 8 a.m. on the City of Durango’s social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, BlueSky, and Threads. For those without social media access, clues will be available after 9 a.m. at the customer service window at City Hall, located at 949 East Second Ave.
Once a rock is found, participants are encouraged to take a photo with it at the location and share it on social media, tagging @CityofDurango and using the hashtag #CODhunt. This helps inform others when a rock has been discovered. After finding a rock, it can be brought to City Hall to claim a prize. Prizes include a three-month membership to the Recreation Center, a season pass to Lake Nighthorse, a Durango Library swag bag, a transit pass, and more. Each family is limited to claiming one rock.
Rules and Special Events
All rocks are hidden on public property and are easily accessible, ensuring that participants do not need to trespass or engage in any risky activities. A special sixth rock will be hidden in celebration of National Scavenger Hunt Day, with clues released on Wednesday.
Durango residents are encouraged to participate in this engaging community event, which not only offers a chance to win prizes but also promotes local exploration and family bonding.
