The DuPage County Health Department (DCHD) is proud to have a successful first year hosting Operation Dropbox in DuPage County. In total, DCHD collected 949 lbs. of donations across 22 donation sites throughout the month of July.
Supporting Local Veterans
“A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who donated and to every site that opened its doors to support Operation Dropbox,” said Adam Forker, Executive Director, DuPage County Health Department. “Your generosity made our first Operation Dropbox a true community effort, and your support will positively impact our DuPage veterans and their families.”
This donation drive supports the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans (MSHV) and its Freedom Commissary, located in downtown Wheaton. Items donated through Operation Dropbox directly help those who have served our nation and are working to rebuild their lives.
Following the donation drive, on Tuesday, August 4, DCHD conducted its annual state-mandated emergency preparedness exercise at the DuPage County Fairgrounds. Volunteers from the DuPage County Medical Reserve Corps and Health Department staff used the collected donations to simulate the unloading and distribution of medical countermeasures during a public health emergency.
