CARROLLTON, Texas — Early Sunday morning, a driver lost control of a vehicle and drove it straight into the front window of Hemptations Smoke Shop at 2300 Keller Springs Road. The impact trapped the motorist inside the car, prompting an immediate response from local emergency crews.
Incident details
The crash was reported to police at 9:12 a.m. An employee of Hemptations, who wished to remain unnamed, confirmed that the driver was unable to exit the vehicle after the collision. The employee also noted that, fortunately, no one inside the shop was injured.
According to the employee, the driver had been walking her dogs next door and had parked in front of the smoke shop before attempting to leave. She apparently pressed the accelerator too hard, causing the vehicle to surge forward and strike the storefront.
Response and cleanup
First responders arrived quickly, securing the scene and working to free the trapped driver. While the exact cause of the crash is still under investigation, officials indicated that the driver was not seriously harmed.
The storefront sustained damage to the glass window and several interior displays. The shop’s owner said the business would be cleaned up and reopened as soon as possible, emphasizing a commitment to serving the Carrollton community.
What remains unknown
Police have not released further details regarding any potential injuries beyond the initial report, nor have they provided a definitive cause for the accident. The investigation is ongoing, and additional information will be shared when available.
Residents are reminded to exercise caution when navigating busy streets, especially in areas with pedestrian traffic and nearby businesses. Local authorities continue to encourage drivers to remain attentive and to follow posted speed limits.
