A tragic incident occurred in Bellevue, Wisconsin, when a driver struck two pedestrians and subsequently drove into a nearby retention pond. The driver, whose name is being withheld pending family notification, did not survive the incident.
According to reports, the accident happened just before 6 p.m. on Wednesday, with multiple calls made to authorities regarding a vehicle and pedestrian crash. Witnesses stated that after hitting the pedestrians, the vehicle entered the pond and began to sink.
Several individuals, including a Brown County Sheriff’s Office deputy, attempted to rescue the driver but were unsuccessful. The Green Bay Metro Fire Department also responded with rescue swimmers, but they were unable to reach the driver in time.
One of the pedestrians was taken to a local hospital for serious injuries, while the other was treated and released at the scene. The incident is currently under investigation.
