A Montgomery man is now in custody for a murder in Dothan. It happened around 2:30 a.m. on July 4 in the 800 block of Hutchins Street. Once officers arrived, they found an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso.
The victim, identified as 18-year-old Ja’Marion Rashawn Snell, of Dothan, was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries, but later died from his injuries on July 8. Dothan police, along with members of the United States Marshal Service Gulf Coast Regional Violent Fugitive Task Force, took 18-year-old Avaughn Ahmad Brown into custody in Montgomery.
Brown will be taken back to Dothan and booked into the Houston County Jail without bond. Chief William E. Benny tells Action 8 News that Brown was out on bond for 1st degree attempted assault for a shooting in March at the time of the fatal shooting.
