Dos Pueblos High Senior Honored as Student Television Network’s Student of the Year

In a proud moment for the local community, Micah Barnhart, a senior at Dos Pueblos High School in Goleta, California, has been awarded the prestigious title of Student of the Year by the Student Television Network. This recognition not only highlights Barnhart’s dedication to his craft but also brings honor to his school and the supportive community around him.

A Moment of Joy and Surprise

The announcement was made in a surprise ceremony at the school, where Barnhart was joined by his parents and school administration. Reflecting on the moment, Barnhart shared, “They dropped on me, they were like do you want to be our Student of The Year and my initial reaction I cried, I think it was the first time I ever cried from happiness, it was just a special moment with all our admin there, with so many people who support me there, especially my parents, so it was really cool.”

The award comes with a scholarship and an internship, providing Barnhart with valuable opportunities as he prepares to graduate and pursue further education at Chapman College in Orange County, California, where he will also play football.

Achievements in Broadcasting

Barnhart’s journey to this accolade included sharing a “Sizzle” reel of his high school broadcasting work, which prominently featured his passion for sports. His efforts have not gone unnoticed, as he is also part of a team that recently received several student Emmy awards at a ceremony in Las Vegas.

This recognition underscores the importance of nurturing young talent and the role of educational institutions in providing platforms for students to excel. Barnhart’s achievements serve as an inspiration to his peers and a testament to the supportive environment fostered by Dos Pueblos High School.
