Dollywood to Add Dream Maker Character, Waterfall and Chapel Stained‑Glass in Sevierville

Sevierville, Tenn. – Dollywood is set to expand its tribute to the beloved singer‑songwriter and philanthropist Dolly Parton with several new features that will open later this year. At a press conference Wednesday, park officials unveiled plans for a new character, a scenic waterfall, and a chapel adorned with stained‑glass windows, all designed to celebrate Parton’s life, faith, and the impact of her Imagination Library.

New “Dream Maker” mascot inspired by Imagination Library

The park will introduce a costumed character called the Dream Maker. The figure is modeled after Parton’s Imagination Library, the free‑book program that has delivered millions of books to children across the United States. Visitors will be able to meet the Dream Maker at designated locations throughout the park, where the mascot will pose for photos and share stories about the power of reading and imagination.

Waterfall and chapel enhancements highlight faith and nature

In addition to the mascot, Dollywood will install a cascading waterfall near the park’s entrance, creating a tranquil backdrop for guests. Inside the park, a chapel will receive new stained‑glass windows that depict scenes from Parton’s upbringing in the Great Smoky Mountains and symbols of her Christian faith. The chapel, already a popular spot for quiet reflection, will now offer an artistic tribute that aligns with the park’s family‑friendly atmosphere.

Citywide walking‑tour markers to honor Parton’s roots

Sevierville officials announced a complementary project: a series of markers placed throughout the city for a self‑guided walking tour. Each marker will highlight a location significant to Parton’s early life, from her family home to the school she attended. The tour is intended to draw both residents and tourists into a deeper appreciation of the local heritage that shaped one of America’s most iconic entertainers.

Mayor Dave Hensley praised the partnership, saying, “Dolly’s story is the story of Sevierville – a tale of hard work, faith, and generosity. These new attractions and the walking tour will bring our community together and showcase the values that make our town special.”

Dollywood, which employs thousands of residents and draws millions of visitors annually, remains the county’s largest employer. The new additions are expected to boost attendance during the upcoming holiday season and further cement the park’s role as a cornerstone of the regional economy.

Local businesses anticipate increased foot traffic as tourists extend their stays to explore the new features and the city‑wide tour. The Sevier County Chamber of Commerce plans to coordinate with hotels, restaurants, and shops to offer special promotions tied to the park’s enhancements.

Parton’s family, represented by her brother Randy Parton, expressed gratitude for the continued celebration of her legacy. “Dolly always wanted to give back, especially to children and families,” Randy said. “Seeing her faith and love for learning reflected in these new park elements is a beautiful tribute.”

The park has not yet announced a specific opening date for the Dream Maker character or the chapel renovations, but officials indicated that construction is already underway and that guests can expect to see the changes by the end of 2026.
