Investigation Underway
The Santa Barbara Police Department is investigating the incident with the assistance of the Criminal Investigative Unit and Animal Control Team. According to the police, officers responded to Camp Canine on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at approximately 4:45 p.m., and spoke with the pet owners and employees at the daycare.
Camp Canine has announced that they will be temporarily suspending their operations, stating that they failed in their responsibility to keep the dog safe. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help support cremation and memorial services for the dog, Bruce the English Bulldog.
