Dodgers Foundation to Build $1.4 M Dreamfields in Altadena’s Farnsworth Park

The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation unveiled a $1.4 million investment to construct two new Dodgers Dreamfields at Charles S. Farnsworth Park in Altadena. The project is part of the foundation’s ongoing recovery work after the devastating Eaton Fire that swept through the area in January 2025.

Project details and community impact

These will be the 69th and 70th Dreamfields the foundation has built since 2003, adding to a portfolio that now totals more than $21.3 million in park improvements and has served over 413,000 young people. The new fields will feature modern irrigation systems, upgraded playing surfaces, fencing, shade structures and solar‑powered hexagonal scoreboards modeled after those at Dodger Stadium.

The facilities are designed for baseball and softball programs serving children ages 5 to 12, while also providing open recreational access for youth and teens up to age 18. Foundation CEO Nichol McKenzie‑Whiteman said the organization has listened closely to what families need, adding “Dodgers Dreamteam programming” that includes education, health resources, food distributions and moments of normalcy during a challenging recovery period.

Groundbreaking ceremony

A groundbreaking ceremony is slated for November 5. The event will include a shovel dedication and a brief program with foundation leaders, representatives from the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation, and project sponsors.

Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation Director Norma E. García‑González praised the partnership, noting that Farnsworth Park has long been a gathering place for families. “These new Dodgers Dreamfields represent more than restored ballfields. They represent hope, healing, and renewed opportunities for Altadena youth and families as the community continues its recovery,” she said.

Community involvement

The foundation has held listening sessions with local stakeholders, including the Community Coalition for Altadena Recovery, Central Altadena Little League and other community leaders, to ensure the project aligns with local needs.

Altadena residents can look forward to a revitalized park that not only restores a beloved recreational space but also strengthens the fabric of the neighborhood by providing safe, modern venues for youth sports and family gatherings.
