Dive teams search for missing boater after three fall from bass boat on Lake of the Ozarks

Lake Ozark, Mo. – Early Wednesday morning, emergency rescue crews and dive teams launched a coordinated search on Lake of the Ozarks after three occupants were reportedly thrown overboard from a bass boat near the 7‑mile marker of the main channel.

Rescue efforts underway

First‑responders from local marine agencies arrived on the scene within minutes. Two of the three individuals were quickly pulled from the water and taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment of injuries sustained during the fall. The third occupant has not resurfaced.

Specialized dive teams from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, equipped with sonar equipment and search vessels, have been deployed to locate the missing boater. Water patrol officers are conducting a systematic sweep of the area, focusing on the vicinity of the 7‑mile marker where the incident occurred.

Details of the incident

According to initial reports, the three people were on a bass boat when they were unexpectedly thrown overboard. The circumstances leading to the ejection have not been released, and authorities have not identified the individuals involved. No foul play has been reported at this time.

Rescue personnel emphasized the importance of wearing life jackets and exercising caution while boating, especially on busy waterways like Lake of the Ozarks. The lake, a popular destination for fishing and recreation, sees a high volume of traffic during the fall season.

Community response and safety reminders

Local residents and frequent lake users have expressed concern for the missing boater and praised the swift response of emergency services. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reminded boaters to adhere to safety protocols, including maintaining proper speed, avoiding reckless maneuvers, and ensuring all passengers are secured with life vests.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely. The search operation remains active, with dive teams working around the clock to locate the missing individual. Updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.

How to help

Anyone with information about the incident or who may have witnessed the event is urged to contact the Missouri State Highway Patrol at (573) 555‑0123. Community members are also encouraged to support local rescue organizations that provide training and equipment for water safety.
