Detroit Lions’ Kendrick Law Out for Season with ACL Injury

The Detroit Lions face a setback as rookie wide receiver Kendrick Law is sidelined for the 2026 season after tearing his ACL during a non-contact drill in organized team activities. This injury is a significant blow to the team’s plans, as Law was projected to be the No. 5 receiver and primary kickoff returner.

Promising Start Cut Short

Law, who stands at 5-11 and weighs 203 pounds, was a fifth-round pick from Kentucky in the April draft. He made a strong impression at the NFL Scouting Combine with a 42-inch vertical leap and a 4.45-second 40-yard dash, boosting his draft stock significantly.

Before his time at Kentucky, Law spent three seasons at Alabama under the guidance of Nick Saban. His performance at Kentucky included 53 receptions for 540 yards and three touchdowns, following a more modest output during his tenure with the Crimson Tide.

Team Adjustments

In response to Law’s injury, the Lions have signed Greg Dortch to handle punt returns and contribute to the offense, joining a receiver lineup that includes Isaac TeSlaa, Jameson Williams, and Amon-Ra St. Brown as the top receiver.

Head coach Dan Campbell expressed his disappointment over the injury, acknowledging the harsh realities of the sport but remaining optimistic about Law’s future. “The kid was doing a good job,” Campbell said. “But it’s part of it. It’s a harsh reality. He’ll get it out of the way early, have his whole career in front of him.”
