The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with Republic Services, is offering Terrebonne families a free, secure way to shred personal paperwork this Saturday, Sept. 19. The final Community Shred Event of 2026 will be held at Terrebonne Community School, 1199 B Ave, from 10 a.m. to noon, or until the shredding truck reaches capacity.
How the shredding service works
Each household may bring up to four boxes of documents. Boxes may still contain staples and paper clips, but plastic bags and three‑ring binders are not accepted. Residents with more than four boxes can call Republic Services at 541‑352‑2263 to arrange a separate pickup.
Medication disposal and additional collections
In addition to paper shredding, the Sheriff’s Office will accept safe medication disposal. Accepted items include prescription pills, patches, ointments, over‑the‑counter drugs, vitamins, samples and pet medications. Sharps, thermometers, inhalers, aerosols and other pressurized containers are prohibited.
Attendants will also collect worn or tattered American flags for proper retirement, and they will gather non‑perishable food donations on‑site for distribution to a local food bank.
