A man was fatally shot by a San Bernardino deputy in Mentone on Friday. The incident occurred when the man allegedly fired at Southern California Edison employees and deputies who responded to the scene.
Incident Details
Deputies with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department (SBSD) arrived at a home in the 300 block of King Street after receiving a report that the man had fired a weapon at SCE employees working near his home. The man had barricaded himself inside the home by the time deputies arrived.
After a three-hour standoff, the man fired at deputies, prompting the deputy to return fire. The man was hit by gunfire and died at the scene. No one else was injured in the incident.
