The state of Colorado will provide funding for five affordable housing projects in Denver, totaling over 400 units. The projects are located in the Golden Triangle, Montbello, Sun Valley, and Sloan Lake neighborhoods, as well as the former Johnson & Wales University campus.
Project Details
The funding for these projects comes from Proposition 123, which was passed by voters in 2022. The proposition sets aside income tax dollars to fund housing. The Denver projects will receive around $18.5 million in state funding, with final award details to be determined later.
According to the governor’s office, the housing is intended to support individuals and families transitioning out of homelessness, as well as provide housing for older adults and families with children. The projects will also incorporate trauma-informed design and proximity to early childhood education centers.
