A Delta flight from Boston to France had to return to Boston Thursday evening because of smoke in the cockpit, the airline said. The plane, Delta Flight 276 to Nice, landed safely after declaring an emergency as a precaution, according to Delta.
The A330-300 had 250 passengers on board, with three pilots and 10 flight attendants. Emergency vehicles could be seen around the plane at the gate at Logan International Airport.
Massport, which operates the airport, said its fire department inspected the plane and that it taxied to its gate on its own power. The plane turned around soon after it took off, according to flight-tracking data.
Delta said it was working to get passengers back to their destinations, with apologies for the inconvenience.
