De Pere residents who are looking to dispose of their yard waste will have to make a change. The city’s old site will be closed, giving way to a new facility located at 2005 Commerce Dr.
New Facility Details
The new site is right by the old facility and will be protected by a fence with gated entry. Residents must complete a free registration to receive an access code. The registration process requires name, address, phone number, and vehicle description to verify that the resident is a city resident.
Once verified, residents will receive a six-digit code to access the facility. As of late last week, the city of De Pere said more than 1,000 people were registered. However, several people didn’t know about the change.
Residents like John Ogard and Geri Noack were unaware of the new facility and the registration process. Ogard said, “I have not registered for the facility, mainly because this is the first I’d heard of it. I wasn’t aware until stopping over here and this is when I found out it was closing. So, it’s on my to-do list now.” Noack also expressed her intention to register for the new facility.
Facility Hours and Rules
The new yard waste facility will close from Dec. 15 to March 15. Starting Saturday, June 27th, the old facility on Rockland Rd. will house a temporary rubbish and bulk waste drop off site while the city renovates its municipal service center.
