Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) is set to temporarily expand its rail services to better serve residents and visitors during the FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted in Dallas. The enhanced services will be in effect from June 8 until July 19, the conclusion of the tournament, according to a recent DART news release.
Expanded Rail Services
DART’s Orange Line, which typically operates through Richardson and Plano only during weekday peak hours, will now run its full route daily, ending at Plano’s Parker Road Station. Additionally, the Red, Blue, and Orange lines will operate every 20 minutes throughout the day for the duration of the World Cup.
Trenise Winters, DART’s executive vice president and chief operations officer, emphasized the importance of providing seamless service during the World Cup events in North Texas. “These enhanced services are being formalized to allow riders to easily plan trips via GoPass and for our daily riders to plan ahead for more frequent trains,” Winters stated in the release.
Trinity Railway Express Adjustments
In addition to the changes in DART rail services, the Trinity Railway Express, which connects downtown Dallas and Fort Worth, will also see temporary service enhancements. On game match days, the service will run every 30 minutes all day. On weekdays that are not game match days, the service will operate every 30 minutes during peak hours and every 60 minutes during off-peak hours. On weekends and holidays that are not game match days, the service will maintain a 60-minute schedule throughout the day. Notably, on June 27, the service will run every 60 minutes until 4 p.m., after which it will switch to a 30-minute schedule.
These temporary changes are designed to accommodate the increased demand for public transportation during the World Cup, ensuring that both residents and visitors can travel efficiently and comfortably across the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
