Dan Barios formally submitted his resignation to the Richardson City Council. Mr. Barios is running for a Democratic position in U.S. Congress. His opponent is a conservative Republican, Jace Yarbrough a seventh generation Texan, also a Constutional Lawyer.
Richardson City Council held a meeting on Monday July 20th where they finalized the process to fill this seat vacancy of seat 3 on the Richardson City Council.

TIMELINE
July 22 – August 7th-Applications will begin to be accepted July 22nd through August 7th. You must be a resident of District 3 .

August 11- Applications are posted in the agenda packet
August 24- Initial Applicants are interviewed in open session : deliberations my take place in Executive Session after interviews
September 14- Council will announce a maximum of 3 finalists for interviews
September 21st – Council will interview finalists and announce a lone finalist in open session: deliberations may take place in Executive Session after interviews
September 28th- Council will vote on appointment: oath will be administered

Also, it is important to remember that all seven Richardson City Council seats are up for re-election May 2027. Applications will be accepted beginning in January 2027.
