A large metal object, identified as an industrial oven weighing 34,000 pounds, fell off a tractor-trailer on the Dallas North Tollway, shutting down all southbound lanes near the Galleria in Dallas.
Accident Details
The accident occurred around 5 p.m. on Thursday, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. Images from SKY 4 showed the large piece of equipment on the roadway and damage to the underside of an overpass.
The North Texas Tollway Authority confirmed that all southbound lanes of the tollway are currently shut down, with traffic being diverted from the DNT at the I-635 West exit. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area or expect heavy traffic and delays for the remainder of the rush hour.
There is no estimate on when the tollway will reopen.
