A North Dallas couple, Mac and Kenz Flannery, are leaving their apartment at North Star Apartments on Forest Lane after it was burglarized three times in less than two weeks. The couple, who are expecting their first child, a girl, had been out of town for a gender reveal celebration when the first burglary occurred.
Repeated Break-Ins
The Flannerys say they notified apartment management after the first burglary, but no additional security measures were taken. The couple stayed in a hotel because they no longer felt safe. However, when they returned to their apartment, they found that additional items had been stolen, including their stove, washer, and dryer.
A third burglary the following day pushed their estimated losses to nearly $100,000. The thieves took passports, a marriage certificate, a Social Security card, ultrasound photos, jewelry, a coin collection, a baseball card collection, and many everyday belongings.
Lack of Security Measures
The Flannerys say they repeatedly contacted apartment management after each burglary, but saw no additional security measures. The only relief offered by North Star Apartments was the ability to terminate their new lease. A manager at the property told NBC 5 that the request for information had been forwarded to the apartment complex’s ownership.
The Dallas police said the burglaries remain under investigation. The Flannerys have decided to move back to Georgia to rebuild.
