Dallas County is planning its 10th annual Expunction Expo to help individuals clear their criminal records and start anew. The expo, a collaborative effort between the district attorney and the district clerk, aims to provide a fresh start for those who have been hindered by their past records.
Expunction Eligibility
Individuals who do not qualify for expunction are those who have received a final conviction, probation, or community supervision. Additionally, those who have received a deferred disposition for a misdemeanor or Class C misdemeanor are also ineligible.
To apply for the expunction expo, individuals can visit the Dallas County website at dallascounty.org/expunction from July 8 at 8 a.m. to July 9 at 5 p.m. Those without access to a computer or the internet can visit designated locations across the city, including the Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, Friendship West Formula Human Services offices, or the Tori Community Offices.
Applicants are advised to have a valid identification, date of birth, social security number, and case history readily available when applying. The expunction process can lead to new employment opportunities, housing, and even access to higher education.
