A Cyclospora outbreak affecting multiple states has been linked to shredded iceberg lettuce supplied by Taylor Farms. The lettuce was served at various food-service locations, including Taco Bell, Walmart, and Jack in the Box, in 27 states.
Symptoms to Watch For
According to Dr. Ash, the biggest symptom of Cyclospora is watery diarrhea that doesn’t go away after a day or two. People can also experience stomach cramps, bloating, nausea, loss of appetite, weight loss, and feel very tired. It can take up to two weeks before symptoms start, and without treatment, people can stay sick for weeks or months.
Dr. Ash advises that if you’ve had diarrhea for more than 48 hours, it’s a good idea to contact your healthcare provider. To stay safe, thoroughly clean fresh fruits and vegetables and avoid any recalled food products.
