CtrlS, a leading Indian data‑center provider, said on Tuesday it will spend 100 billion rupees (about $1.05 billion) to construct a 150‑megawatt hyperscale AI factory in Bodh Gaya, Bihar. The new facility is designed to meet the growing digital‑infrastructure demands of government agencies, private companies and large‑scale cloud providers throughout eastern India.
Expansion builds on prior investments
The company previously invested 4 billion rupees to launch a 12‑megawatt data center in Patna, the state capital, which can be expanded as demand rises. CtrlS now operates 19 data centers across India and plans to add more than 20 edge facilities in smaller cities over the coming years, according to CEO Sridhar Pinnapureddy.
Strategic importance for the region
By locating a high‑capacity AI hub in Bihar, CtrlS aims to boost regional connectivity, create skilled jobs and attract further technology investment to eastern India. The project aligns with broader national efforts to strengthen the country’s AI and cloud‑computing capabilities.
Industry momentum
CtrlS’s announcement follows a wave of data‑center commitments from Indian firms such as HCLTech and L&T, reflecting strong confidence in the country’s digital growth trajectory.
With the new AI factory slated to become operational in the next few years, CtrlS expects the facility to serve as a cornerstone for future AI workloads and data‑intensive applications across the region.
