The Dallas Cowboys have played their home games at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, for the past 17 seasons. However, the venue has been temporarily renamed Dallas Stadium as it hosts several World Cup matches.
Changes to the Stadium
The end zones, yard markers, and artificial turf are gone inside the retractable-roof stadium during soccer matches. One change caught Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer’s attention: curtains installed to block the infamous sunlight from pouring onto the natural grass field.
Schottenheimer expressed his concerns about the changes, stating that the curtains make the stadium less ‘majestic.’ The glare from the sunlight has been a recurring issue since the Cowboys moved into their billion-dollar home in 2009.
In the past, players have blamed the sun’s glare for missed catches. Schottenheimer also mentioned that the team has a plan in place to deal with the sunlight, using satellite imaging and pictures of the sun to prepare for games.
