Cowabunga Bay, the Henderson waterpark located at 900 Galleria Drive, announced Monday that it will not reopen for the 2027 summer season, ending a decade‑long venue for local families seeking summer recreation.
According to KTNV, the park’s ownership group released a statement describing the closure as a “difficult decision” and said the company will instead concentrate its Las Vegas waterpark operations on its sister property, Cowabunga Canyon in Summerlin. The owners explained that focusing on a single park will allow them to “better serve the Las Vegas community with focus on one park in the market.”
Since opening in 2014, Cowabunga Bay has been promoted as a place where “families came together and summer memories were made,” a spokesperson for the ownership group said. The statement expressed gratitude to guests, staff and community partners for their support over the years.
Guests who purchased season passes for the 2027 season will be able to use those passes at Cowabunga Canyon, the owners confirmed. They also emphasized an ongoing commitment to invest in the Summerlin location and to “enhance the overall guest experience.”
The future of the Henderson property remains uncertain. While the owners said the site will be “maintained and secured” while plans are developed, no specific timeline or redevelopment proposal was disclosed.
What’s next: Season‑pass holders for 2027 are instructed to contact Cowabunga Bay customer service to transfer their passes to Cowabunga Canyon. The park’s management indicated that the Summerlin facility will continue to receive capital improvements, aiming to provide Southern Nevada families with a single, upgraded water‑park destination.
