A traffic stop on State Road 60 in Indian River County led to the arrest of a 79-year-old man and the discovery of drugs, packaging materials, and a firearm. An Indian River County Sheriff’s deputy stopped a Corvette after receiving a tip about illegal drug sales.
During the search of the vehicle, deputies found over 20 grams of individually packaged marijuana, packaging materials, a digital scale, and a Glock pistol. The driver, Ronald Theriault, was arrested and admitted to possessing the marijuana, stating that he sells it.
Theriault’s Corvette was seized following the arrest. The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office said they received multiple complaints regarding alleged drug sales involving Theriault in the SR-60 corridor.
The sheriff’s office has zero tolerance for drug activity in the community and is urging anyone with information on suspected drug sales to contact them or submit an anonymous tip through Crimestoppers.
