Conroe Updates: Flock Cameras, CISD Compensation

Conroe Police Chief Jon Buckholtz addressed concerns regarding Flock safety cameras during the Conroe City Council’s June 11 meeting. The cameras, which are automated license plate recognition cameras, are used to identify vehicles involved in criminal activity and do not issue speeding tickets or use facial recognition.

Conroe ISD Compensation Plan

The Conroe ISD board of trustees approved the new employee compensation plan on June 16. The plan does not include across-the-board pay raises for teachers, with a total additional cost of $700,000 compared to the previous estimate.

Galaxy All-Abilities Park

The Galaxy All-Abilities Park is now open in Sugar Land, featuring a wheelchair-accessible playground, interactive sensory walls, and shaded rest areas. The park is a nod to the Sugar Land Space Cowboys, the official Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros.

The Transportation Advocacy Group of the Houston Region discussed the future of advanced air mobility in a webinar on June 3. Advanced air mobility includes unmanned drones and electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft to transport people and materials.

HCA Houston Healthcare Expansions

HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake is set to undergo massive renovations, including a three-story vertical expansion to accommodate new neurosciences and oncology floors. The University of Texas Medical Branch at League City’s hospital campus will also undergo a multiphase expansion project worth $300 million.
