Beaches in Stratford and Clinton, Connecticut, are closed to swimmers for at least the remainder of Wednesday due to extreme heat and high bacteria levels. Temperatures are expected to exceed 100 degrees across the state for the next several days.
The Stratford Health Department said that Stratford beaches are closed for swimming due to rainfall exceeding one inch and may reopen on Thursday depending on Wednesday’s weather. In Clinton, swimming and water activities in Clinton Town Beach are closed because the bacteria levels in the water are beyond the standard limits, according to Clinton CT Parks and Recreation.
