Dániel Gazdag scored the go-ahead goal on a first-half penalty kick, leading the Columbus Crew to a 2-1 win over FC Cincinnati on Saturday night.
Hell is Real Derby
The match was the 22nd edition of the Hell is Real derby between the Ohio rivals. Kévin Denkey gave Cincinnati an early lead with his 11th goal of the season, assisted by Evander Da Silva Ferreira and Pavel Bucha.
Columbus pulled even in the 42nd minute when Jamal Thiaré scored off a corner kick from Dylan Chambost. Gazdag then scored the winning goal in the sixth minute of stoppage time after Max Arfsten was fouled by Cincinnati defender Matt Miazga.
Patrick Schulte made four saves for Columbus, while Roman Celentano had four saves for Cincinnati. The win ended Cincinnati’s five-match unbeaten run on the road.
