The City Auditorium in Colorado Springs, which opened in 1923, is undergoing renovations to preserve its historic character while transforming into a modern destination for concerts, community events, and plays. As part of this effort, the original chairs from the auditorium are being sold to the public.
Preserving History
The proceeds from the sale of the chairs will go towards the City Auditorium Gift Trust Fund. According to city officials, the historic chairs have been a part of decades of legendary performances, including those by Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, and Willie Nelson. Each chair has a wrought-iron hat rack beneath the seat, designed to hold cowboy and top hats during performances.
The chairs are being offered in four categories: Excellent (100-year-old condition) for $150, Good for $100, Fair for $50, and Salvage for free. The sale began at 10 a.m. and can be accessed through the City Auditorium website.
