The city of Cocoa is continuing its efforts to bring a Brightline passenger rail station to the area. The city was just awarded a $2 million state grant to fund an access road for the future multimodal station near U.S. 1 and State Road 528, but is waiting on more federal funding to complete the project.
Project Timeline
While there is no official date for the station’s opening, officials hope it will be operational by 2030. “We are awaiting announcement on a $57 million grant through the Federal Railroad Administration, which will help bring the project to fruition,” said Samantha Senger, director of communication and economic development for the city of Cocoa.
A Brightline spokesperson provided the following statement: “Brightline continues to demonstrate strong momentum, with second quarter 2026 marking the highest revenue performance in our history. Ridership in Q2 continues to show strong growth. We are currently engaged with our partners on various options to enhance our balance sheet and position our company for long-term success. Brightline is committed to working with the city of Cocoa to bring passenger rail to the community.”
